Fashion and art have always been closely linked, and this connection formed the starting point for the company NYH Concepts, which aims to showcase them in northern Nigeria and even further afield. The ultimate goal: to make the state of Kaduna Africa’s one-stop destination for art and fashion.

The Kaduna Fashion and Art Exhibition (KAFART), which is already in its fourth year, meets several objectives: to present crafts as a traditional art form that transcends time and celebrate it through an exhibition that will showcase woven textiles, embroidery, sculpture, tie-dye and other techniques.

To top it all off, workshops and masterclasses will be organised alongside the exhibition in order to share artisanal techniques with up-and-coming young creatives.

3rd space : A Yoruba House Music Project

Founded in 2014 in Lagos, the creative agency Whitespace unearths and supports young visual artists (photographers, filmmakers, illustrators and art directors) by providing them with a working environment conducive to completing their projects, allowing it at the same time to develop a strong network within the West African creative sector.

The main objective of the project is to produce an album of Yoruba house music. The first step is to engage two separate groups, each consisting of 14 dancers and drummers, who will lay down ancient rhythms and songs over electronic music. The recorded performances will then be used to create an album.

Naija Tales

Mega Arts Pluz Nigeria is a cultural and creative organisation deeply committed to the discovery of talent and actively involved in performing arts programming, cultural consultancy, audio-visual production and innovative African development projects to promote indigenous African arts and make them globally relevant.

"Naija Tales" enlists Nigerian storytellers, theatre artists, digital content programmers and radio producers to accelerate the distribution of cultural content via physical and digital platforms. The project will culminate in the launch of the International African Performance Storytellers' Day (celebrated every 1 December) and the creation of an African Storytellers' Academy.

Lagos International Poetry Festival

Creative Africa Company, producer of the Lagos International Poetry Festival, is committed to training, empowering and showcasing cultural creators of African descent, with a strong bias towards young emerging voices, an inclination towards archiving new stories and narrative change.

Since 2015, the Lagos International Poetry Festival has brought together the world's leading writers, poets and thinkers from around the world. This year, this celebration of linguistic diversity returns with the theme "Babel... A New Language" to explore the ability of poetry, literature and art to speak of the common challenges facing humanity. It will take place as a hybrid experience, combining digital offerings and face-to-face events.

Kaduna Fashion Show and Art Exhibition

NYH Concepts is a cultural enterprise with a focus on art and fashion in Northern Nigeria. Always striving for innovation and quality creation, it aims to make Kaduna State a place of opportunity for artists and designers, and a unique destination for African art and fashion.

The KAFART Kaduna Fashion and Arts Exhibition aims to showcase local creative excellence. In order to create more professional opportunities for Northern Nigerian artists and expand their audience, NYH Concepts envisioned a platform that would allow these same designers to showcase their skills, products and promote their services, both nationally and internationally, well beyond the scope of the exhibition.

"Afropolis", virtual performance space

The idea of this organised virtual performance space was born out of the pandemic. In April 2020, the annual "DanceGATHERING" dance event was threatened by the Covid crisis. Instead of cancelling it, the association decides to maintain it in a virtual edition. The event was a resounding success, with 10,000 visitors from 300 cities around the world. Consequently, the "Afropolis" project has become a reference platform for Afro urban culture and a resource centre for educational and creative content from various backgrounds. This digital artistic offering that defies distance, reduces its carbon footprint, aims to broaden its audience and increase interactivity, also functions as a laboratory where the performing arts are combined to create new cultures.
